About Us

Lance and Kristen Baker

After being married for two years and working miscellaneous jobs (Starbucks, Publications, and Doggie Daycare) we know it was time for us to do something different.  We always knew that we wanted to go overseas to live and serve for a while but didn’t know quite what it would look like.

In August 2009 we went to Da Nang, Vietnam to teach English for 10-months.  We quickly fell in love with the country.  We met so many amazing people and had so many incredible experiences.

While we were there, we met the Brewer family at our international fellowship.  They run a non-profit organization called Orphan Voice.   They invited us to partner with them and work with an orphanage in Da Nang.  We immediately felt a pull on our hearts and knew that this was going to be the next step for us.

For roughly three months we spent a lot of time at the orphanage getting to know the children.  It didn’t take long to fall in love with them and they now feel like our little brother’s and sisters.  In September 2010, we returned to Vietnam to work full time with Orphan Voice and the Promise House orphanage.  It has been an exciting experience.  We typically spend about three days a week at Promise House interacting with the children.  Sometimes we take the children on outings (the movies, the beach, arcade, etc.), sometimes we plan a special fun activity and sometimes we just go to spend time with the children.

We hope that you will visit this site often.  We will always be updating it with stories and pictures.  Also, we are relying entirely on donations to support our life and work in Vietnam.  If you feel led to support what we are doing you can make a donation by clicking on the “make a donation” page.  All donations are tax deductible.

If you would like to know more about what we are doing please feel free to contact us via email.
